HEALTH BEGINS IN YOUTH
Kids in Nutrition (KIN) empowers the younger generation to lead sustainable and healthy lives through nutrition and food sustainability education.
Our mission focuses on getting kids to think about how their individual dietary choices impacts themselves and the world around them. We utilize a peer-to-peer behavioral change approach by mobilizing university students to become advocates for dietary change within their local communities.
As we continue our operations in our existing seven chapters, our plan is to expand our educational outreach nation-wide to ignite a movement for a healthier, more sustainable future.
Groups of five university student volunteers visit a local elementary school to teach in-classroom or virtually on various topics of nutrition and food sustainability. Each group visits the same classroom for 7 weeks in order to foster strong relationships amongst the elementary school students and college instructor volunteers. We believe that this form of mentorship is the most effective way to change behavior as each university instructor is able to leave a lasting impression.
We currently have 8 chapters operating in various regions, including California, Massachusetts, Indiana, and Arizona. Our intent is to start up a chapter in every state across America. Join the #KINmovement!
KIN seeks to partner and collaborate with like-minded individuals, businesses, non-profits, and media partners.
