KIDS IN NUTRITION
HEALTH BEGINS IN YOUTH
ABOUT US
Kids in Nutrition (KIN) empowers the younger generation to lead sustainable and healthy lives through nutrition and food sustainability education.
Our mission focuses on getting kids to think about how their individual dietary choices impacts themselves and the world around them. We utilize a peer-to-peer behavioral change approach by mobilizing university students to become advocates for dietary change within their local communities.
As we continue our operations in our existing four chapters, our plan is to expand our educational outreach nation-wide to ignite a movement for a healthier, more sustainable future.
EDUCATION
Groups of five university student volunteers carpool each week to a local elementary school to teach on various topics of nutrition and food sustainability. Each group visits the same classroom for the entirety of the program in order to foster strong relationships amongst the elementary school students and instructor volunteers. We believe that this form of mentorship is the most effective way to change behavior as each university instructor is able to leave a lasting impression.
